Sopwell Hall, built in 1745, became the main and statement house on the grounds, leaving the castle uninhabited and in disrepair.
The castle today requires extensive restoration, but it is largely intact.
Sopwell Hall, on the other hand, is in superb condition and represents the best of early Georgian architecture.
Sopwell Hall, which spans 14,235 square feet and includes five reception rooms and ten bedrooms, provides an abundance of natural light thanks to its large glazed windows.
The magnificent reception room is divided by an arched screen and is both well-proportioned and spacious, while the morning room, study, drawing room, and dining room all feature ornate architecture and large marble fireplaces.
A broad carved staircase leads to an impressive upstairs landing with six scagliola sienna marble columns that match. In addition to four bedrooms, there are five principal bedrooms off the upstairs landing.
The en-suite master bedroom, located in the house’s southeast corner, is also accessible from the upstairs landing.
